A good product in the wrong place can be frustrating. Before choosing a magnetic door curtain, consider the doorway as a space you use, rather than simply an opening to cover. The frame, nearby furniture and the route through the home all affect the result.
Look for a suitable fixing surface
SnugMag attaches around the frame using hook-and-loop tape. Start by checking the top and sides for a sound, sufficiently flat fixing surface. Decorative mouldings, loose paint and uneven finishes may make positioning more difficult. The tape needs a suitable contact surface, not simply a frame that looks wide enough from a distance.
Check both the opening dimensions and the proposed fixing line. The measurement guide helps distinguish the clear passage from the finished curtain size. If the frame is unusual, a careful assessment before ordering is more useful than trying to adapt the curtain afterwards.
Watch the movement around the opening
Open the door fully and note the handle, hinges and direction of travel. Think about where the curtain will hang when the door is moved. Look at floor coverings, a raised threshold and furniture immediately beside the frame. The centre passage should be easy to find and the bottom should not catch or trail.
Consider everyday use too: carrying washing, moving a pushchair, passing with a pet or using a mobility aid. A curtain should not make a necessary route harder to navigate. If the opening has a required door function or forms part of an escape route, preserve that function and access.
Keep the home's ventilation working
Some internal door gaps are deliberate ventilation paths. Do not cover or seal them indiscriminately. Energy Saving Trust advises against draught-proofing internal doors where their gaps allow air movement. Check the chosen location is suitable before adding a doorway barrier.
Make the finish feel intentional
Once the practical fit is resolved, consider the view from both sides. A charcoal textile can give a clear outline against an ivory frame and sit comfortably with oak and natural stone. Keep the surrounding area simple so the doorway reads as part of the room, rather than a crowded collection of accessories.
Choose one location carefully before planning a second. Two openings with similar door sizes may still have very different fixing surfaces or ventilation requirements.
