The small detail behind a magnetic closing seam

Why the centre opening matters, how the two fabric edges meet and what to check if the seam needs a little adjustment.

Most curtains are moved to one side and left there. A magnetic door curtain is arranged around a centre opening instead. You part the two edges to pass through; when released, the magnetic closure helps bring those edges back together. It is a small detail with a clear purpose: making a textile doorway barrier easier to use in everyday life.

Think about the whole curtain

The closing seam works as part of the fitted curtain. The frame holds the outer edges, the quilted fabric hangs across the opening and the centre edges need to line up. Good alignment allows the two sides to meet without constant pulling or readjustment.

This is why measuring and fitting matter as much as the magnetic detail itself. A curtain stretched across an unsuitable opening, tilted at the top or caught at floor level cannot hang in the same way as one correctly positioned on its frame.

What everyday use should feel like

Approach the centre opening, part the fabric and pass through gently. Release it once clear. Check the seam rather than assuming it has closed perfectly every time. It should not be propped open by a nearby handle, furniture or something placed in the passage.

For children and pets, introduce the curtain gradually and supervise initial use. Keep the route easy to navigate. A textile curtain is an added furnishing; it does not replace a proper door or any door function your home requires.

If the edges do not meet

Start with three simple checks. Is the top fixing line level? Is there unnecessary tension pulling the centre edges apart? Is the lower edge catching on a threshold or floor covering? Correct these points using the hook-and-loop fixing before deciding that the closing seam is the problem.

Keep the edges free from tangled fabric and inspect the fixings from time to time. Changes in the way the curtain hangs can be a fitting issue rather than a change in the magnetic closure.

A detail you can see before buying

Our product gallery includes a close view of the centre seam and a fitting illustration. Use both alongside the size guide to understand how the curtain sits on a doorway. Seeing the mechanism and the complete installation together is more useful than judging a single close-up.

See the detail. Consider the fit.
